Sovereign
Park is a shingle-based nature park and the first of its kind
in the country. Established in 1998 from land reclaimed from
the sea it is now home to almost 130 different species of
wildflowers such as Yellow Haunt Poppies and the Vipers
Bugloss. The designers of Sovereign Park, which lies between
the Sovereign Centre and Sovereign Harbour, were awarded for
their innovation by the Tidy Britain Group judges when they
won the Arthur Price Trophy for Special Environmental Initiative
in the 1998 South East in Bloom awards.
