Eastbourne Brings Romance to Deckchairs
Eastbourne Borough Council tourism bosses have got into the Valentines Day spirit, by launching a new deckchair made especially for couples looking for romance.
The Wide Boy deckchair, which is made for the loving couple - when two chairs are just too far apart is double the width of a traditional deckchair and will be available throughout the summer for romantic couples visiting the resort.

Costing just 2 for a days hire, as opposed to 2.90 for two deckchairs, couples also enjoy a grand saving of 90p.

Eastbourne Borough Council spokesperson for Tourism, Councillor David Elkin said Eastbourne is a wonderful place to enjoy a short romantic break, with breathtaking scenery, superb restaurants and high quality hotels. After a busy day of sightseeing, what better than to relax on our new deckchair and enjoy a romantic cuddle as the sun goes down.

Romance has long been a theme in Eastbourne, even the resorts Dotto Trains which run along the seafront are named after Romeo, Juliet and Cupid, and this year is no exception with a range of offers throughout the resort.

However this years most luxurious Valentine celebration has to be the special Limited Edition offer at the 5* Grand Hotel, most recently used for the filming of ITVs Miss Marple. With an 800 fully inclusive price tag for two people, the romantic couple can enjoy an exquisite tailor made dinner for two in their very own private gallery suite, complete with personal butler, who will also present the special lady with handmade chocolates and a dozen red roses.

Overlooking the magnificent Great Hall, heavenly harp music will play during the evening and overnight accommodation in a luxurious Master Suite completes the package. All staying guests can also enjoy some pre-dinner pampering in the hotels Health Spa with whirlpool spa, swimming pool and extras including aromatherapy massages and beauty treatments.

Further hotel offers include the seafront 3* Lansdowne Hotel with a candlelit dinner, bed and breakfast package starting at 182 per room for one night and 240 per room for two nights. The package includes Champagne on arrival and on Saturday 12th February a Dinner Dance. Also along the seafront the 3* York House Hotel offers candlelit dinner, bed and breakfast for 220 per room for two nights.

However for those who prefer somewhere small and relaxed but with equal grandeur, guest houses such as the Albert and Victoria offer elegant period dcor at just 35 per person per night, bed and breakfast. Each room enjoys a different look, such as the romantic English rose style Beatrice Room complete with canopied bed and antique furniture.

During the day Britain in Bloom winning gardens provide the perfect backdrop for romantic strolls along the seafront or for those looking for something more active, there is a range of outdoor pursuits to enjoy together such as golf, mountain biking, sailing and paragliding.
