Eastbourne gets 'stamp' of approval Eastbourne is now featuring on one of six iconic British seaside photographs appearing on a collection of stamps named Beside the Seaside Issued on May 15 by Royal Mail, Eastbournes first class stamp features a giant ice cream set against a backdrop of Eastbournes seafront. All of the stamps in the set represent traditional seaside holiday customs that are still very much alive in UK resorts. Councillor Wallis, Eastbourne Borough Councils Cabinet Member for Economy, Tourism & Environment said Eastbourne has maintained its traditional costal resort charm which Royal Mail have captured on this stamp whilst adapting to suit modern times and needs. We should be proud of our heritage and that Royal Mail has selected Eastbourne as a town that celebrates the best of the British Seaside. As Eastbourne is featuring on the first class stamp it will receive a high circulation within the collection and will remind those receiving letters and parcels what one of the UKs premiere seaside resorts has to offer prior to the busy holiday season. Julietta Edgar, Head of Special Stamps at Royal Mail said: These vibrant images encapsulate perfectly the fun of a holiday by the seaside, and Im sure they will have the same effect on millions of people when they see them on letters and parcels. Presentation Packs and Stamp Cards are available from Royal Mail. |
