Eastbourne Goes for the Hat-trick 12 May 2006 Eastbourne is keeping fingers crossed for a hat-trick of awards this year, following its nomination in three categories at the prestigious 2006 Group Travel Awards. Nominated for the most sought after award of the evening, the Most Group-Friendly UK Destination, for the first time Eastbourne also has a further two nominations to look forward to - the Cavendish Hotel for Best Individual Hotel for Groups and Airbourne could be in line for Best Event for Groups. Eastbourne Borough Council Spokesperson for Tourism, Councillor David Elkin says This is fantastic news, and wonderful to see recognition for our hotels and events, showing that they are indeed some of the best in the country. These awards are voted for by our customers so it is wonderful to see that they hold Eastbourne in such high esteem. The nominations follow last years success at another top industry event, the Group Leisure Awards, when Eastbourne walked away with the top award of the evening Best UK Resort. Ashley Procter, House Manager of the Cavendish Hotel says "It is a great accolade to have been nominated, and fantastic to demonstrate that Eastbourne can cater for all types of groups. We have worked hard to ensure the hotel is up-to-date with today's technology and guest requirements. Currently, we are working on developing some new leisure facilities to add more value to the hotel for our valued guests." Held on 16th June at the London Hilton in Park Lane, all awards are nominated by readers of leading industry magazine Group Travel Organiser, read by tour operators and group organisers across the UK. |
