Ride the Waves
Eastbourne Extreme is set to ride the waves of success on 16 & 17 July, as organisers expand the resorts annual Skate Festival to include watersports for the first time ever.

Headlining the watersports line up is the UK Windsurfing Associations Slalom 2 and Freewave series of national events, which will see top UK and international windsurfers racing off Eastbourne seafront.

Eastbourne Borough Council Spokesperson for Tourism, Councillor David Elkin said After the success of the Skate Festival over many years, it was fitting to move one step further and provide even more activities, with new and exciting genres. Eastbourne Extreme really highlights the changes that are going on in the resort, in particular the increase in watersports activities, that can be enjoyed throughout the year.

Rowers from Eastbourne Rowing Club and surrounding towns are already in training for an Inter Club Coastal Regatta, held on the Sunday. Or for those who still havent gained their sea legs, Spray Watersports are on hand with FREE one hour taster sessions in windsurfing, sailing and powerboating, designed to get novices on the water.

For those who would prefer to stay dry, the British Hang Gliding & Paragliding Association will be bringing a flight simulator and the British Federation of Sand & Land Yacht Clubs and South East Kite Association will be land sailing on wind powered wheeled yachts and kite powered buggies.

15,000 visitors attend the Skate Festival each year, and to incorporate even more attractions, the organisers Eastbourne Borough Council, have expanded the venue this year to include the Skate Park, Princes Park, Sovereign Centre, and land up to Fishermans Green.

This increased venue size means skaters get an impressive three arenas this year full of demonstrations and activities from top international skaters, London Night Skate and Eastbourne Skate Association.

The Skate Park will also be open for skates, boards and bikes to use the latest ramps and grind rails and Wheely Good Fun are on hand with FREE skate hire. The bands stage returns with a great line up including local band RipChord and the Diesel Urban Music Award winning Obedient Bone.
