Mauresmo to Mesmorise Press Release issued by the Lawn Tennis Association: Hastings Direct International Championships organisers announced today that world number three, Amelie Mauresmo, will return this year, June 11-18, in an attempt to avenge last years semi-final defeat at the hands of Daniela Hantuchova. Since the start of her career Amelie has reached at least the quarter-finals in nine straight Grand Slam appearances and hopes that Eastbourne will prove to be the perfect warm-up to her first Gland Slam win at Wimbledon, a week later. Amelie, who made her debut at Devonshire Park in 2004, said: I had a great week last year. It was a great way to prepare for Wimbledon, the area was very nice and the courts were in many ways better than Wimbledons and very nice to play on. Amelie, who joins defending champion Svetlana Kuznetsova and three time grand slam winner Justine Henin-Hardenne in the draw for 2005, is determined to go one better than the semi finals this year: I am looking forward to trying to win the trophy this year. It is always a strong tournament, with excellent players and it will be tough to win, but I am playing well and will give it a good go. Joint Championships Director, Gavin Fletcher, welcomed the news of Amelies entry into this years championships: We are absolutely delighted to welcome back Amelie to the Hastings Direct International Championships. Already this years line up is shaping up to be something special and it is going to take an exceptional performance to win this years title. Tickets continue to sell quickly as fans snap up the chance to see some of the finest tennis players in the world, at the 30th Hastings Direct International Championships.
