Organised by Dukes Jazz Bar and Eastbourne Borough Council, the first ever Eastbourne Jazz Fest takes place throughout the week of the Hastings Direct International Championships. Offering jazz entertainment every day at either Dukes Jazz Bar in Carlisle Road or at the seafront Bandstand, tennis visitors and local jazz fans can enjoy a varied programme of music each evening. Entry to Dukes Jazz Bar is completely free of charge and tennis fans will also be able to enjoy a free Jazz Street Party at the end of play on Wednesday 16th June on Carlisle Road, outside Dukes Jazz Bar. The Bandstand hosts an All Day Jazz Party on Friday 18th June costing 2.50 for entry to the afternoon or evening session, and on Sunday the South London Jazz Orchestra plays from 3 4.30pm with entry costing 2.25. Jazz musicians will also be entertaining tennis fans from Tuesday to Saturday at the Hastings Direct International Championships from 10am to 11.15am each morning before play begins. Dukes Jazz Bar now holds regular free Jazz evenings, as well as serving quality food in their upstairs restaurant. Craig Brown of Dukes Jazz Bar said We opened our Jazz Bar just 3 months ago and were so delighted with the response, that we decided to launch Eastbournes first ever Jazz Fest. This year weve put an excellent bill together and next year look forward to an even bigger and better festival. The first Eastbourne Jazz Fest is also sponsored by Bonners Music, Carlsberg, Alsford Timber, Sussex Life and Splash Point Records.
