Eastbourne to Celebrate Queens 90th Birthday with Beacon Lighting and Bandstand Party!
When Queen Elizabeth II turns 90 on 21 April, Eastbourne will join in with national celebrations taking place across the country, by marking the occasion with a Beacon Lighting, birthday party and fireworks at the seafront-facing Bandstand.
The party kicks off at 6pm on Thursday 21 April, with a live set from DJ Oli, playing favourite party tunes and chart hits before the Eastbourne Bonfire Society lead a torch-lit procession along the lower promenade, from the Wish Tower to the beach west of the Bandstand where the beacon lighting will take place.

At 7.30pm the Mayor of Eastbourne, Councillor Janet Coles, invite the crowd to sing Happy Birthday for the Queen and then Eastbourne Bonfire Society will light the Queens Birthday Beacon in honour of Queen Elizabeth IIs 90 years, before the festivities at the Bandstand continue with more music from DJ Oli with plenty of dancing by all.

The event is free to attend and public viewing of the Beacon Lighting will be from the Bandstand and the middle promenade west of the Bandstand, right up to the Wish Tower car park.

The Mayor of Eastbourne, Councillor Janet Coles said Eastbourne is celebrating the Queen reaching the magnificent age of 90 by throwing a party in her honour and I would love for Eastbourne residents and visitors, young or old, to come and celebrate the occasion with us; it promises to be a wonderful and quintessentially British evening so bring along your red white and blue to wave

The birthday celebrations will culminate in a short but spectacular firework display at 8.30pm, set off from the beach west of the Bandstand, followed by the playing of the National Anthem which everyone can sing along to and the crowd will be invited to give three rousing cheers to her majesty.

Later in the year, the Eastbourne Sunshine Carnival on 11 June will continue the birthday celebrations by hosting a Queens 90th Birthday themed carnival. Visitors can expect to see many royally dressed carnival floats, fit for the Queen. The carnival proceeds from the Western Lawns to Princes Park, kicking off at 4pm.
