Extreme Experience this Weekend The south coast is getting ready for the ultimate adrenaline-fuelled weekend as Eastbourne Extreme returns with its fastest, most action-packed line up yet and its all for free! This Saturday and Sunday visitors to Eastbourne seafront can enjoy a real surfers paradise as extreme sports in the sea, on land, and in the air, get set to take their breath away with powerboating, parkour, slalom, windsurfing, kitesurfing and more! Leading this years displays are two national contests with the all new UK Battle Slalom Competition. Chosen to host one of the countrys four official slalom championship events, Eastbourne will welcome some of Europes and the UKs top freestyle slalom skaters to battle it out with their tricks and stunts. And Formula Future are bringing their powerboat national championship to Extreme for the first time too, with the UK Formula Future Offshore Race Club (FFORC) setting off from Sovereign Harbour Marina and racing along the Eastbourne shoreline for round four of their national championship. Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Member for Tourism, Cllr Neil Stanley said This weekend promises to be action-packed in Eastbourne and is the ultimate excuse for a trip to the south coast. Not only can visitors enjoy our beautiful beaches and promenade, but theyll be able to witness extreme sports close up as well as have a go themselves with zorbing and taster sessions on offer! With a live Battle of the Bands competition taking place on the Extreme music stage and with the VW Bus Stop Tour rocking up to the beach on Sunday, this is a brilliant summer event for the whole family. The action gets underway on the seafront from 11am on both days with a night skate on Saturday offering visitors and Eastbourne residents the chance to skate their way around the town at dusk. As well as an action-packed line up of extreme sports, including all new street surf ramps introduced for 2010 and provided by Street Surf to offer a taster of the new sport growing in popularity, the Extreme stage returns with a bumper soundtrack for the weekend. The Extreme music stage will host the finals of a Battle of the Bands competition that has been running in Eastbourne over the past few months, with local acts taking to the stage to be crowned 2010 winner. Visitors can look forward to live performances every hour from bands including Centralia DC, Knocksville, Glam Rice, Western Bodies Eastern Minds, On The Spot, Ultraviolets, Spaniels Ears & Dinosaur Attack. And with refreshment stands lining the seafront and the VW Bus Stop Tour bringing a colourful display of iconic VW Camper Vans to the seafront on Sunday, visitors can chill out and soak in the festival atmosphere while watching the extreme experts in action.
