Rotary boost for minibus appeal Despite appalling weather conditions, a hardy group of cyclists turned out for this year's fun cycle event held in July by the Rotary Club of Beachy Head. Riders of all ages and abilities followed routes through Friston Forest and across the Downs. Their efforts, and the resulting sponsorship, resulted in the club being able to raise �3,500 for the Eastbourne and Wealden MS Society minibus appeal. This has helped the appeal pass its �30,000 target and the society has now placed an order for a much-needed new vehicle. The club's contribution was recently handed over to society chairman Bernard Curtis, during one of its evening meetings. Those present included Simon Godwin of Cuckmere Cycles who made the premises available for the finish of the cycle ride and provided invaluable assistance |
