EHA TRIPLES ITS SUPPORT FOR BEACHY HEAD CHAPLAINCY The Eastbourne Hospitality Association is increasing its funding this year for the local Beachy Head Chaplaincy The Eastbourne Hospitality Association is increasing its funding this year for the local Beachy Head Chaplaincy. A �300 donation will help sponsor 3 members of the patrol teams over the next year. When the Chaplaincy was set up in 2004 it only had a team of 6 volunteers patrolling very evening. Now 2 full time chaplains are employed backed up by around 20 volunteers. They now patrol 100 hours a week both night and day. In all 14 local churches are involved. There is also a 24 hour �on call team� and all members of the Eastbourne Hospitality Association are able to phone directly to assist. In a 9 month period up to April this year they have been involved in 410 incidents and searches and have directly helped 120 people at Beachy Head. EHA Chairwoman Heidi Cowderoy says �we see this as a worthwhile cause and Hotels and Guesthouse owners are keen to support this operation |
