MICHELLE WINS BRITISH TITLE AN Eastbourne martial arts expert has won the British Championships in Tae Kwon Do. MICHELLE WINS BRITISH TITLE AN Eastbourne martial arts expert has won the British Championships in Tae Kwon Do. Michelle Cavallin, 22, who trains at the Park College Gym competed at the national tournament last month. The British light-heavy weight champion battled her way through three preliminary rounds before taking the honours in the final bout. After winning the tournament Michelle told Herald Sport, "I was very surprised to win but it was very pleasing. I won the South East Championships in October but I never expected to win the British." Michelle was introduced to the sport by a friend and has now been practising Tae Kwon Do for seven years. Emphasis is placed on self defence and the development of self-control. Originating from the Korean martial art of Taek Kyon, Tae Kwon Do improves physical strength, reflex, endurance and speed. Next up for Michelle is the TAGB World Championships at the Birmingham NEC arena in June. Michelle added, "The World Champs will be harder still but I will go there and give it my best shot."
