Tripple Your Tipple at Eastbourne Beer Festival Tripple Your Tipple at Eastbourne Beer Festival Eastbourne Beer Festival visitors will be able to try three times as many beers this year, as organisers introduce small schooner glasses to entice new drinkers to real ale. The new third pint schooners will be available free as visitors arrive, providing an alternative to the popular pint glass, following a successful trial in London at the Great British Beer Festival in August. It is hoped the new glasses will allow drinkers to try a wider range of beers and also attract some new fans to real ale. Eastbourne Borough Council Spokesperson for Tourism, Councillor David Elkin said Many of our visitors already enjoy the wide range of wines, ciders and bottled beers on offer at the festival, however we also want them to widen their tastes a little and try some real cask ales too. Plus as an added bonus, with over 120 real cask ales on offer, drinkers will also be able to sample more beers than ever before with prices starting at just 80p for a schooner. Another successful introduction from the Great British Beer Festival could be the Best Beer in Britain, Brewers Gold by Crouch Vale, as voted at the festival. Drinkers in Eastbourne will be able to try the award winner for themselves before voting their own beer of the festival, won last year by Harveys Brewery, who also return with their popular festival brew the Star of Eastbourne. The festival returns to the Winter Garden from 12 - 14 October with a wide array of beers from the raspberry flavoured Fruit Bat and malty caramel undertones of What the Foxs Hat to the dark mocha tasting Karma Sumatra, enhanced with pure Sumatran coffee. Jazz, blues and acoustic sets fill the entertainment programme, along with pub games and festival favourite the Oompah band headlining on two nights. Following last years sell out success festival goers are advised to book tickets early, and to enjoy the widest range of beers before they sell out, get two tickets for the price of one on Thursdays opening night.
