Winning Streak Continues for Eastbourne Town FC
Eastbourne Town FC continued its winning run with a victory over Ringmer on Tuesday Night.
After winning well last saturday at Arundel , Town travelled to Ringmer on Tuesday evening for a fiesty encounter in the Sussex county league division 1 .
That man Liam Baitup having scored a hattrick on his debut for Town did it again in only the 2 nd minute when he turned home a pass from captain Luke Denton to give Town the lead .
To be honest ,Ringmer then played the better football , and Ringmer forward Scerri was guilty of a glaring miss in front of goal when set up by Mclaughlin .
But however Ringmer tried , either a lack of quality finishing or some outstanding defending by Town kept Ringmer at bay .However when Ringmer did get the chance to strike at goal , they found Greg Nessling Towns goalkeeper in superb form .He somehow denied Mclaughlin with a 'Gordon Banks' save that drew applause from around the ground .
Ringmer stayed camped inside the Town half for much of first period as Town clung on to the slender early lead , and they reached half time with a 1-0 lead .
Now playing down the slope , Town started the second half looking to add to there advantage .But it was Ringmer who drew level against the run of play .Mclaughlin broke away down the right side of Town area , he stepped inside the Town defender , and shot at goal , Nessling saved well , but the ball rolled back to the lanky striker and he rolled the ball into the empty Town net .
After getting his team back into the game , Mclaughlin was then sent from the field of play for a second yellow card after a nasty foul on Simmonds .
From the resultant free kick Town worked the ball out to Goodwin , he crossed and found Ducille free at the far post , and his shot was blocked by the defenders hand on the Ringmer goaline and the Referee awarded a penalty .
To compound Ringmers problems the defender was also sent from the field of play for the deliberate handball .
Liam Baitup placed the ball beyond the reach of Ringmers keeper May to put Town ahead again .
It was now becoming an incident packed match , another Ringmer player was shown the red card for another awful tackle this time on Chris Dicker .Town brought on John Piercy and Gary Brockwell and these two experienced players began to pull the strings for Town .Town kept the ball well , and it was no Surprise when after Goodwin sent another superb ball into the Ringmer penalty area , that man Baitup was on hand to slide the ball home to give Town another valuble three points and himself another hattrick .
