Tennis Davis Cup Tie Comes to Eastbourne Again The LTA today announced that Devonshire Park in Eastbourne has been chosen to play host to the forthcoming Davis Cup by BNP Paribas tie between Great Britain and Israel 21-23 July 2006. Eastbourne Announced as Venue for July Davis Cup Tie 5 May 2006 The LTA today announced that Devonshire Park in Eastbourne has been chosen to play host to the forthcoming Davis Cup by BNP Paribas tie between Great Britain and Israel 21-23 July 2006. Eastbourne Borough Council Spokesperson for Tourism, Councillor David Elkin said �We are delighted that Eastbourne has been chosen to hold the Davis Cup here at Devonshire Park. As one of the most prestigious and historic tennis venue�s in the World, spectators will be able to enjoy exciting tennis in modern sporting facilities, while the idyllic Eastbourne setting means everybody attending, players and visitors, can be assured of a first class stay. With more and more exciting events coming up, from international ladies tennis to one of the biggest free airshows in the UK, more and more visitors can soon discover for themselves why we are the holders of the �Best UK Resort� award.� The Euro-African Zone Group One tie will be the second consecutive tie in Britain this year after April�s tie against Serbia & Montenegro in Renfrewshire, Scotland. Jeremy Bates, GB Davis Cup Captain said �We are very excited about heading back to the grass in Eastbourne, the conditions are always perfect there and I�m sure the home crowd will provide us with fantastic support for this important tie.� Devonshire Park, which last hosted a Davis Cup event in 1995 when Great Britain defeated Monaco, is likely to accommodate 3,500 spectators for each days play. Tickets for all three days of the tie will go on sale to the public from Tuesday 23rd May. Great Britain last played Israel in 2005 defeating them 3-2. |
