FREE Christmas Concerts This Christmas the bandstand will continue its 70-year long annual celebrations with traditional FREE Christmas Day and Boxing Day concerts. Since 1935, the beautiful seafront bandstand has been attracting a full house of guests who come and enjoy the festive atmosphere with music and dancing and this year visitors can enjoy the Eastbourne Silver Band on Christmas Day and dancing with 'Sounds Easy' on Boxing Day. Eastbourne Borough Council Spokesperson for Tourism, Councillor David Elkin said, �The bandstand has gone from strength to strength this year, with a huge increase in visitors, an extended programme of concerts and a 70th birthday celebration. The atmosphere at the bandstand on Christmas Day and Boxing Day makes it a really wonderful experience for residents and visitors who can enjoy this traditional celebration together at this festive time of year�. The free concerts at the bandstand are on Christmas Day from 10:45 to 12:15 with the Eastbourne Silver Band and on Boxing Day a performance from Sounds Easy, which will get the dancing going from 11:00 to 12:30. Fans can then look forward to a busy summer where the bandstand is in constant use from May to September with more than 100 entertaining performances a year including rock n roll, proms, tribute nights and 1812 firework concerts. The 2006 concert programme is in the process of finalisation and is due for publication at the end of the year. |
